Shinhan Bank on March 11 signed a memorandum of understanding with the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism at the Korean Buddhist History and Culture Memorial Hall in Seoul’s Jongno district to strengthen strategic cooperation and partnerships.
Shinhan Bank CEO Jeong Sang-hyeok (정상혁) and Venerable Jinwoo (진우스님), chief administrator of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, attended the signing ceremony.
The agreement is aimed at digitising the Jogye Order’s follower management system and expanding convenience services by linking follower ID functions with financial services.
Under the agreement, the two sides will pursue various partnership projects, including issuing and promoting use of a dedicated card that doubles as a follower ID, building an integrated digital platform for follower management, and identifying new business linked to religious practice and conducting joint promotions.
Jeong said, "Through signing this agreement with the Jogye Order, we will do our best to continuously provide differentiated financial benefits to followers." He added, "Shinhan Bank will also focus its capabilities on providing new value to customers beyond the boundaries of traditional finance and improving financial convenience."
