[Digital Today reporter Dae-geon Seok] LG Electronics is expanding supply of apartment-tailored AI home solutions, accelerating its push into the B2B market. LG Electronics said on Monday that it has supplied its ThinQ On AI home hub to Posco E&C’s The Sharp apartment brand since last year, and that cumulative deliveries have surpassed 10,000 households.

ThinQ On is equipped with generative AI. It converses with residents in everyday language, understands context and learns living patterns. Residents can control not only LG Electronics appliances but also a range of IoT devices by voice. For example, it can remember and execute complex commands such as, "Turn off the air conditioner and run the robot vacuum. Then turn on the dehumidifier in an hour." It can also switch multiple appliances on and off at once. It supports room-by-room device control, such as, "Turn off all the lights in the bedroom."

Households using the apartment-specific "Our Complex Connection" service provided via the ThinQ AI home platform app also exceeded 300,000 as of the first quarter this year. The feature supports calling elevators, checking parking locations, controlling lights, heating, ventilation, outlets and gas valves, checking visitor logs and reserving community facilities. When used with ThinQ On, residents can control complex convenience features by voice alone without using the app.

The apartment-specific AI home solution is a key driver for LG Electronics as it expands its business in the construction B2B market. LG Electronics provides built-in appliances and AI home solutions together to meet construction companies’ requirements.
