[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Microsoft will sell a new enterprise subscription package, "Microsoft 365 E7", bundling Office 365 software with the Copilot AI chatbot for the first time from May. The price is $99 per user per month.

E7 is a package that combines the existing top-tier enterprise subscription E5 with Microsoft 365 Copilot and Agent 365. It also includes Entra Suite and security features such as Defender, Intune and Purview.

If purchased separately, E5 is $60, Entra Suite is $12, Copilot is $30 and Agent 365 is $15, totaling $117. E7 is priced lower than that.

Agent 365 is a platform for IT and security teams to centrally supervise and manage AI agents within a company. It will be officially launched on May 1.

Microsoft also unveiled "Copilot Cowork", jointly developed with Anthropic. Copilot Cowork is based on the same agentic architecture as Anthropic Claude Cowork. It operates in a Microsoft 365 tenant cloud environment and links to user email, file, meeting and chat data through corporate data protection policies and a "Work IQ" feature.

Copilot Cowork is in a private pilot for some customers and is set to be provided as a research preview to customers participating in the Frontier program in March.

The E7 launch comes as the spread of paid Copilot subscriptions has been slow. Among about 450 million Microsoft enterprise customers, paid Copilot subscribers remain at 3 percent. Microsoft is pursuing a strategy of using the E7 bundle to encourage enterprise customers to accept Copilot as a default work environment rather than a separate option.

According to Microsoft, paid use of Copilot has increased by more than 160 percent from a year earlier, and daily active use has increased 10-fold.
