A dispute over trading volume between Polymarket and Kalshi is intensifying.
Shampoo (샴푸), a member of the Polymarket team, strongly criticised Kalshi on his social platform, accusing it of manipulating API data to inflate trading volume in the esports category.
He said Kalshi manipulated API request figures to show total trading volume of $1.7 billion, but the actual volume across all subcategories was only about $63 million. He also pointed to Kalshi listing CS:GO and CS2 markets as separate markets and counting them twice.
The claim is extending beyond a matter of data interpretation to a question of trust over whether manipulation occurred. Shampoo said it was "intentional inflation and an act that deceives users and the industry."
Kalshi previously raised similar suspicions last year, alleging that Polymarket double-counted its own trading volume.
