Shinsung E&G is entering a renewable energy business to respond to electricity demand from data centres. Shinsung E&G said on Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with Bridge Ocean Consulting to jointly 추진 solar installation projects. The agreement aims to build a renewable energy-based power supply system for data centres.

The two companies will jointly pursue a renewable energy business for data centres centered on building solar power plants. They will cooperate step by step from the early stage of project development, including permits, external liaison work and project structure design. They plan to minimise business risks and secure speed and execution capability for project 추진.

As a first project, the companies are reviewing a solar power business using data centre rooftops. The expected generation capacity is 15 to 30 MW. It is being 추진 with a target of completion by the end of this year or next year. Shinsung E&G plans to carry out development, permits and external liaison work, then proceed in the form of a private contract.

The company plans to gradually expand solar power projects tailored to the characteristics of data centres. Shinsung E&G plans to use the agreement to build a renewable energy business portfolio that responds to data centre electricity demand and to explore the potential to expand into similar projects.

A Shinsung E&G official said demand for renewable energy-based power supply is also growing as the data centre industry expands. The official said the company will actively respond to market demand based on its RE100 consulting capabilities, operational know-how and solar EPC expertise. The official added that Shinsung E&G plans to create synergies by linking its ongoing data centre air conditioning business with renewable power supply to raise energy efficiency and operational stability at the same time.
