The KOSPI reclaimed the 5,000 level on Feb. 3 after one day.
As of 9:17 a.m., the index was trading at 5,124.11, up 174.44 points, or 3.52 percent, from the previous session.
It opened at 5,135.94, up 37.58 points, or 3.42 percent, from the previous session, and is extending gains.
Individuals and foreigners are net selling 62.5 billion won and 14.7 billion won, respectively. Institutions are net buying 92.5 billion won.
Samsung Electronics was trading at 157,900 won, up 4.99 percent, while SK Hynix was at 873,000 won, up 5.18 percent.
Among other top market-cap stocks, LG Energy Solution was up 0.53 percent, Samsung Biologics gained 0.18 percent and SK Square rose 5.74 percent. Hyundai Motor was down 0.63 percent and Kia fell 0.67 percent.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was at 1,123.04, up 24.68 points, or 2.25 percent, from the previous session.
The index started at 1,135.94, up 37.58 points, or 3.42 percent, from the previous session, and is holding strong gains.
