Firefox is offering an option to block generative AI features, TechCrunch reported on Sunday.
Mozilla will update Firefox starting with version 148, due to be released on Feb. 24, to let users selectively block AI features, TechCrunch said.
With a new AI control section added, users can block all AI features in the browser or keep only certain functions. Features include translation, PDF alternative text, AI tab grouping, link previews and a sidebar AI chatbot.
Mozilla CEO Anthony Enzor-DeMeo (앤서니 엔조르-데메오) said, "AI is changing the web, and users have different needs about it. We developed AI controls to reflect the voices of both users who do not want AI and those who want useful AI tools."
