KakaoFriends, run by Kakao, is unveiling 'Chunsusan' themed products featuring a story in which Chunsik turns into a fish market vendor and will hold various events, it said on Thursday.

The 'Chunsusan' line totals 25 items. Along with character goods such as dolls, key rings and figures, it also includes a broad range of home items reminiscent of a sashimi restaurant, including sauce bowls, soju glasses and chopsticks. Customers can find a range of concepts, from Ryan and Chunsik wearing aprons to Chunsik transformed into seafood such as sea squirts and sea cucumbers. Props distinctive to fish markets, including seafood boxes, parasols and air balloons, are incorporated into the designs to bring out the theme's mood.

The goods will be available from Thursday at KakaoFriends online and offline stores, as well as through KakaoTalk Gift and W Concept.

To mark the launch, KakaoFriends will decorate its Hongdae flagship store with a lively fish market concept and hold various events. It will set up a key ring fishing experience zone styled like an aquarium and a mini sashimi restaurant photo zone inside the store, and provide special packaging to customers who buy Chunsusan products.

The online Friends Shop and offline directly operated stores will also give away 'Chunsusan rubber gloves' on a first-come, first-served basis to customers who spend at least 30,000 won, including on Chunsusan items.

It will also unveil new KakaoTalk emoticons using Chunsusan artwork alongside the release of the goods on Thursday. The emoticons capture a range of emotions from Chunsik transformed into seafood such as oysters, clams, octopus and sea squirts.

A Kakao official said the company planned a follow-up theme this year based on a fish market concept after the positive response last year to 'Matsamchun,' which was inspired by fruits and vegetables. The official said it plans to offer a more multi-dimensional experience by combining products and spatial design along with emoticons.
