Saemaeul Geumgo Central Federation said on Wednesday it has completed the opening of Our Neighborhood MG Galleries in 5 locations nationwide to expand infrastructure in areas underserved in culture and arts and to invigorate local exchange.

Saemaeul Geumgo galleries were created at a total of 5 local credit unions, starting with Hwaseong Saemaeul Geumgo in Gyeonggi province in September last year, followed by Samcheok Jungang Saemaeul Geumgo in Gangwon province, Choeup-dong Saemaeul Geumgo in Busan, Buk Ulsan Saemaeul Geumgo in Ulsan and Jeongeup Saemaeul Geumgo in North Jeolla province.

Saemaeul Geumgo branches across the country will be expanded as hub spaces where people can access art and culture. They are expected to lower barriers to viewing art exhibitions and operate as open cultural spaces where local artists and residents can naturally interact.

The MG Gallery was designed to help residents experience art in everyday life through various exhibition projects involving local artists, as well as exhibitions of works by well-known artists from South Korea and abroad.

An official at Saemaeul Geumgo Central Federation said, "Through MG Gallery, we will continue to build a foundation to practice coexistence with local communities as well as expand cultural infrastructure." The official added, "Going forward, Saemaeul Geumgo will grow together with local communities through various forms of giving back to society."
