After Nexon offered full refunds in response to a probability controversy over 'Maple Growing', a user group that had launched collective action withdrew all related complaints, bringing the issue to an end for now.

The Korean Gamers Association said on Jan. 29 it had withdrawn a complaint filed with the Fair Trade Commission and a damage-relief application submitted to the Game Rating and Administration Committee on Jan. 28, following Nexon Korea's decision to offer full refunds. It said the decision was made after discussions with YouTube channel 'Kim Seonghoe's G-Archive'.

The association assessed Nexon's decision positively. Lee Cheol-woo (이철우), the association's chairman, said it was a welcome step for Nexon to decide to fully compensate user losses. He described it as a case in which a company acknowledged responsibility on its own and consumer rights were remedied swiftly without a lengthy legal dispute.

YouTuber Kim Seonghoe (김성회) also conveyed the view that he welcomed Nexon's decision to offer full refunds and that it should make strenuous efforts to restore damaged trust.

Users can now choose a remedy that fits their circumstances. Those seeking a full refund can receive back all amounts paid since the game's launch on Nov. 6 last year and stop playing, or they can take the previously announced in-game compensation instead of a refund and continue playing.

The case is expected to remain as a precedent in which a business resolved conflict through voluntary remedies ahead of steps such as the implementation of punitive damages in August.

The association said it hoped this would serve as an opportunity to spread a culture across the game industry that puts user protection first.
