Bithumb said on Wednesday it will run a “dormant assets recovery” campaign to notify customers of long-unclaimed assets and return them, marking its 12th anniversary.
Bithumb has continued the campaign for a third straight year, placing customer protection as its top priority.
Dormant assets on Bithumb total about 291.6 billion won, held by about 2,570,000 customers. The largest individual dormant holding was 4.1 billion won. The customer with the longest unconfirmed period did not check assets for 4,380 days. The highest return on unconfirmed assets based on bitcoin was 61,106 percent.
Bithumb has provided ongoing support for customers’ recovery of assets through earlier dormant assets recovery campaigns. In the 11th anniversary campaign, about 36,000 customers reclaimed dormant assets worth a total of 70.6 billion won, it said.
“Many customers still do not realise they hold virtual assets or have left them untouched for a long time,” Moon Sun-il, head of services at Bithumb, said. “We hope this 12th anniversary campaign helps customers put their valuable assets back to use,” he said.
