[DigitalToday reporter Yoonseo Lee] Whale activity is drawing attention in the cryptocurrency market. Ahead of February 2026, certain altcoins are being accumulated in large quantities, drawing market interest.

On Jan. 27 (local time), blockchain media outlet BeInCrypto introduced 3 altcoins selected by whales.

First, Aster (ASTER) has recently become a target of concentrated whale buying. Addresses holding Aster worth $1 million or more added about 15 million over the past month, in an assessment that buying interest is continuing despite market uncertainty. Still, Aster's price has remained in a downtrend since mid-November 2025 and is currently around $0.65. If whale accumulation continues, it could rebound to $0.71, and if a bull market continues, the possibility of breaking above $1.00 is also being discussed.

Chiliz (CHZ) is also attracting whale interest. Addresses holding 100 million to 1 billion CHZ added more than 100 million CHZ over the past month, lifting the Chiliz price by about 30 percent to $0.054. If whales keep buying, it could rise to $0.066 in the medium term and $0.080 in the long term. But if large-scale profit-taking occurs, there is also a risk it could fall to $0.045 or $0.041.

Finally, Axie Infinity (AXS) has recently posted a strong rise and is drawing attention from investors. Axie Infinity, trading around $2.55, has surged 213 percent from earlier this month, backed by large-scale whale accumulation. Addresses holding 100,000 to 1 million AXS added more than 6 million over the past month, driving the uptrend.

Axie Infinity could rise to $3.00 in the short term and $4.00 in the long term, but if whales move to take profits, there is also a risk it could fall below $2.00.

Whale accumulation is seen as one indicator for gauging supply and demand trends. Still, it is hard to conclude that accumulation will immediately lead to gains, so there is a need to check each coin's key support and resistance ranges and whether changes in whale holdings translate into actual price moves. In volatile markets, the possibility of sharp pullbacks due to profit-taking should also be reviewed alongside accumulation.
