Hana Bank said on Jan. 28 it signed a business agreement a day earlier with the Korean National Tuberculosis Association to improve health and financial convenience for foreigners staying in South Korea.

The agreement is designed to support foreigners staying in South Korea, who are financially vulnerable and can easily fall into healthcare blind spots, so they can settle in local communities as healthy members of society. It includes tailored financial services such as account opening, overseas remittances and economic and financial education, along with medical services to prevent infectious diseases and promote health.

Hana Bank and the association plan to support preventive screenings for tuberculosis and other respiratory infectious diseases when foreign customers visit the Boksipja Clinic operated by the association. They also plan to provide discount vouchers for drug tests and discount coupons for various disease-prevention vaccinations.

The partners also decided to operate Hana Bank's mobile branch and the association's mobile screening vehicles at the same time to improve access to financial and medical services for foreigners and seasonal workers living in underserved areas such as rural and fishing communities.

Lee Jeong-hyeon (이정현), head of Hana Bank's foreign exchange business group, said Hana Bank provides various events and benefits through Hana EZ, a financial platform for foreigners that supports 16 languages, as an essential partner for foreign customers living in South Korea. He said the bank will continue expanding the range of financial services for foreigners to strengthen its position as the most convenient and trusted bank for them.
