Digital asset exchange KuCoin has appointed Sabina Liu, formerly of London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), as head of its European business and is accelerating its expansion under MiCA, the EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation, Cointelegraph reported on Jan. 27.
Liu led KuCoin's institutional business.
She said: "Securing a MiCA licence is an important milestone, and through this KuCoin will expand its position in mature financial markets."
Liu stressed that KuCoin would use MiCA's strict capital, reporting and governance regulations as a foundation for growth. KuCoin has made regulatory compliance a long-term business strategy and aims to provide differentiated services in the European market, Cointelegraph reported.
KuCoin has been strengthening its regulatory response in Europe since reaching a settlement with the U.S. Department of Justice last year and plans to expand cryptocurrency services within MiCA rules.
