[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Digital infrastructure and continuity solutions company Vertiv said on Jan. 27 it will launch Vertiv SmartRun, a modular prefabricated overhead infrastructure solution, to speed up data centre construction.

A prefabricated overhead infrastructure solution involves making power, communications and piping facilities in modular form in a factory, then installing them on site through assembly only.

Vertiv said Vertiv SmartRun supports integrating power distribution busbars, a liquid cooling piping network, hot-aisle containment and network infrastructure into a single scalable solution.

It said this can reduce deployment complexity for cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) training applications and shorten deployment time in new-build and retrofit environments at colocation and hyperscale data centres.

Vertiv emphasised that a pre-designed system can cut the engineering review and staffing needed for installation of power busways, piping, network cabling and hot-aisle containment systems, enabling overhead infrastructure integration in a more streamlined way.

Tony Gaunt (토니 건트), vice president for product and solutions for Vertiv Asia, said, "Across Asia, data centre operators are being asked to scale rapidly while managing limited space and workforce availability, alongside rising power density driven by AI and cloud growth." He added, "Vertiv SmartRun enables faster and more predictable deployment through prefabricated and integrated overhead infrastructure. This helps customers bring forward time to revenue, support advanced cooling requirements, and build future-ready data centres without adding operational complexity."
