[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed his intent to foster the cryptocurrency industry. In a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump said the United States must not lose leadership in key technology fields such as cryptocurrency and AI. He said he would sign “as soon as possible” a crypto market structure bill being pushed in Congress.

He stressed that the bill goes beyond the level of simple financial regulation and is an important strategic tool to secure U.S. technological competitiveness and maintain geopolitical advantages. Trump said, “There are political reasons, but ultimately securing technological leadership is key,” making clear that he views the cryptocurrency industry as a national industry.

The U.S. Congress is currently discussing a Market Structure Bill that covers the issuance, trading and protection of digital assets. The bill focuses on improving regulatory clarity for digital assets and laying the groundwork to foster the industry.
