[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Small computer maker Raspberry Pi has made a surprise appearance in the USB flash drive market. TechRadar reported on Jan. 23 (local time) that Raspberry Pi launched high-speed USB 3.0 flash drives supporting 128GB and 256GB capacities.
The product comes in an aluminium case design engraved with the Raspberry Pi logo, offering a compact size and large storage space. It uses a pSLC (Pseudo-SLC) cache to maximise high-density NAND flash performance. It is designed to maintain stability during power loss or sudden removal.
The product supports an SSD-style SMART reporting function that can monitor lifespan. The 128GB model offers 16,000 IOPS 4kB random read, 21,000 IOPS random write, and 75 MB/s sequential write performance. The 256GB model supports 18,000 IOPS read, 22,000 IOPS write, and 150 MB/s sequential write.
The product is priced at $30 for the 128GB model and $55 for the 256GB model, and can be purchased through authorised Raspberry Pi resellers.
