[Barcelona, Spain = Digital Today reporter Jin-ho Lee] LG Uplus presented its future vision for artificial intelligence (AI) agent ixi-O at MWC26. It aims to connect everything from wearables and smart glasses to vehicles, home IoT appliances and humanoid robots, and transform into an AI execution platform.

LG Uplus on March 2 local time unveiled at MWC26 in Barcelona how ixi-O could evolve into ambient AI that connects a range of devices and spaces around voice.

Future ixi-O understands call context and proactively carries out tasks through processes such as voice input, recognition of emotions and context, assessment of risks and needs, proposals and execution of actions, and result reporting. It also seeks to integrate ixi-O into robots, positioning it as a physical AI platform.

For example, if a business trip schedule is shared during a family call, ixi-O analyses the call and automatically adjusts existing schedules. It assesses what is needed by reflecting weather in the destination, and a humanoid robot carries out related tasks such as collecting laundered clothes and packing. It also analyses family members' voices and conversation patterns to identify emotional states, suggesting more frequent contact or sending music and photos to emulate real life.

LG Uplus stressed that this future blueprint for ixi-O aligns with the direction outlined by CEO Beom-sik Hong (홍범식) in a keynote speech at MWC26. Hong previously said in the keynote that "voice is the most human and essential means of connection" and stressed that "AI call agents will evolve to a stage where they understand conversational context and act on their own."

Going forward, LG Uplus plans to build an AI ecosystem in cooperation with various global telecom operators and partners, and focus on advancing ixi-O.

Yoon-ho Choi (최윤호), head of LG Uplus' AI Business Group, said, "We were able to present to the world a future vision in which telecom-based voice AI combines with physical AI to execute reality." He said the company would advance ixi-O and seek ways to expand services so that physical AI is introduced in settings that directly connect with real customers.
