Hana Bank said on Tuesday it has upgraded financial functions on Hana EZ, its financial platform for foreign customers, to improve their access to banking services and daily convenience.

The upgrade adds a new rewards service, MileEZ, to the Hana EZ app. It also allows users to access major financial and daily-life services non-face-to-face, including customer verification registration, passport number changes, utility bill payments and issuance of various certificates.

MileEZ is a rewards service that lets users accumulate points through financial services such as setting exchange rate alerts, overseas remittances and designating a foreign exchange transaction bank. Users can also earn points through activities such as attendance check-ins and inviting friends. It offers benefits such as gift coupons when monthly goals are met.

The bank improved the app so users can handle customer verification registration and passport number changes that previously required a branch visit. It also built a process that lets users complete, in one go, an application to designate a bank for overseas remittance transactions after changing a passport number.

The app also allows users to issue various certificates, including transaction statements, balance certificates, certificates of alien registration and national health insurance qualification and eligibility confirmation documents. It also supports daily-life services such as paying electricity bills, water and sewage bills, and National Health Insurance premiums through a single app.

To mark the upgrade, the bank will run an event through March 31 for foreign customers who use overseas remittances. Winners will be chosen by lottery, with 1 person receiving a 1-don gold key and 249 people receiving 10,000 won convenience store mobile vouchers.

A Hana Bank official said the bank improved services so foreign customers can handle banking tasks more easily through non-face-to-face channels. The official added the bank will continue to expand tailored financial and daily-life services for foreign customers.
