Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin called for new designs for decentralised autonomous organisations (DAOs), urging changes to strengthen onchain dispute resolution and governance beyond simple token-voting structures, Cointelegraph reported on Sunday.
Buterin said DAOs need more sophisticated systems to improve on existing corporate and political structures.
He said DAOs should go beyond token-holder voting-based treasuries and address core infrastructure issues such as oracles, onchain dispute resolution and long-term project management.
Buterin pointed to the need for DAO designs that can be used for various purposes, including subjective disputes such as insurance claims, maintaining anti-scam lists and establishing short-term funding bodies.
He said projects designing oracles or governance systems should treat DAO design and the communication layer as 50 percent of the overall work, stressing that DAOs need strong governance systems.
