AXIS Capital surveyed 250 CEOs and chief information security officers (CISOs) in the United States and Britain and found their views diverged on AI risks and rewards, CNBC reported on Thursday.

The survey showed CEOs see AI as a tool to raise productivity and competitiveness, while security chiefs worried risks such as data leaks are increasing. Asked whether AI will strengthen corporate security, 19.5 percent of CEOs said they were not sure, while 30 percent of CISOs responded negatively.

AXIS CEO Vincent Tizzio said rapid change around AI is prompting companies to review their security tools.

Companies in the United States and Britain also differed in their level of AI preparedness. Some 85 percent of U.S. companies said they are preparing for AI threats, compared with 44 percent in Britain. With ransomware attacks doubling over the past 2 years, 82 percent of companies plan to increase cyber security budgets over the next 12 months. Tizzio said cyber risk has become an essential issue for corporate survival.
