[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Three Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives urged the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to take action against Tron founder Justin Sun, Cointelegraph reported on Wednesday.
Maxine Waters, Brad Sherman and Sean Casten warned that the SEC’s dismissal of cryptocurrency cases could undermine investor confidence. They called for an investigation into Sun to be resumed and raised suspicions about his links to China and alleged financial dealings with President Donald Trump’s side.
In February, the SEC said it was holding off on sanctions against Sun and was seeking a resolution.
The lawmakers asked the SEC to disclose related documents and raised questions. The SEC has drawn controversy over deregulation and policy changes for cryptocurrency companies, and Democratic commissioner Caroline Crenshaw recently resigned, increasing the likelihood that key decisions will be made under Republican leadership.
The SEC and Sun have not yet issued an official position.
