[DigitalToday reporter Hojeong Lee] Ubisoft has brought its flagship tactical first-person shooter (FPS) game franchise to mobile.
Ubisoft said on Thursday it had officially launched 'Rainbow Six Mobile'.
The game was developed through collaboration among several studios led by Ubisoft Montreal. It supports iOS and Android devices and adapts the original experience for mobile, combining tactical play with fast combat action.
The core game mode is a 5-vs-5 player-versus-player (PvP) battle between attack and defence teams. The attack team gathers information using reconnaissance drones and carries out missions by strategically breaking through destructible walls, floors and ceilings. The defence team must block entry routes and defend positions using surveillance cameras and traps. The company said it was designed around strategy, tension, teamwork and situational judgment, providing deep immersion even on mobile devices.
Alongside the global launch, the first global season, 'Operation Sand Race', also began. The desert-themed season adds a new operator, 'Deimos'.
Olivier Albarassin (올리비에르 알바라신), Ubisoft's game director, said, "The process of turning Rainbow Six's signature tension, strategy and teamwork into a truly mobile-first experience was both a challenge and a joy, and we hope players experience deep gameplay and a new Siege they can enjoy on the move."
