XRP's burn rate jumped 147 percent in late October, but it has not escaped a downward trend.

On Oct. 31, blockchain media outlet U.Today reported that a total of 1,644 XRP was burned as transaction fees on the XRP Ledger on Oct. 30.

The increase in burning is tied to the XRP Ledger's basic structure. The XRP Ledger charges a small amount of XRP as a fee each time a transaction is processed on the network and automatically burns that amount. Unlike some blockchains that distribute burn tokens on a separate schedule, XRP burning is a constant mechanism linked to transaction fees.

The cumulative amount burned so far is 14,423,678 XRP, about 0.014 percent of total supply. The amount burned can increase if network activity rises, but the latest burn did not lead to a price rebound. XRP also weakened in October, a month that typically fuels expectations of a strong cryptocurrency market.

Market jitters were cited as a factor behind price weakness. Concerns grew after a $6.3 billion hack occurred on Binance, but the company later said it had made up an amount equivalent to about 90 percent of the value of the stolen assets. Progress in fulfilling a promise to fully compensate was also mentioned as a factor that could partly ease market anxiety.

Network and investment-product indicators expanded in the third quarter. According to XRP's official X account, the size of stablecoins on the XRP Ledger in the third quarter of 2026 rose 25.2 percent to $1.03 billion. Net inflows into XRP spot exchange-traded products (ETPs) were also tallied at $355.3 million, up 39.6 percent.

Payment volume rose 4.3 percent to 42.82 billion XRP, and native decentralised exchange (DEX) trading volume rose 20.2 percent to $614.8 million. The value of decentralised tokenised real-world assets was tallied at $498.7 million, up 29.2 percent. That included a tokenised fund launched by Aviva investors with BNY Mellon.

Even as network usage and inflows into investment products improved, short-term prices reacted more sensitively to external bad news and investor sentiment. Despite the increase in burning and third-quarter growth indicators, broader market risk aversion weighed on XRP's price trend in late October.
