Ripple unlocked a total of 1 billion XRP in November through two regular escrow releases of 500 million each.

On Nov. 1, blockchain outlet U.Today reported that data analytics firm Whale Alert said 500 million XRP was unlocked from Ripple early that day. It said another 500 million XRP was released afterward, bringing a total of 1 billion XRP to the market. Each transaction was valued at $626,430,089.

This is a regular procedure Ripple carries out each month. Ripple initially placed 55 billion XRP in escrow to increase transparency and predictability in XRP circulation, and has been releasing it sequentially on a set schedule.

Not all of the 1 billion XRP released this time will remain on the market. Ripple has previously returned a large share of unlocked XRP back into escrow. Typically, about 700 million XRP was re-deposited, while the rest was used for operating funds, liquidity provision and ecosystem-related activities.

In October, announcements and updates related to Ripple and the XRP ecosystem continued. Announcements and updates related to the XRP Ledger (XRPL) continued, and RLUSD was listed on Coinbase. As a result, retail and institutional customers can trade and manage RLUSD on Coinbase Prime, Coinbase Exchange and the Coinbase Retail app. Dollar stablecoins can be converted one-to-one into RLUSD.

Market attention is focused on whether the next amendment on the XRP Ledger will be activated. According to XRPScan data, fixCleanup3_4_0 entered a two-week activation window after a vote reset on Oct. 21, and the earliest activation time was presented as Nov. 4.

The amendment includes changes across single-asset vaults, lending protocols, automated market makers (AMM), permissioned decentralized exchanges (DEX), trustlines, non-fungible tokens (NFT), MPT, escrow, sponsorship, transaction signing and delegation, among others. It is also linked to the delegation function applied in October. Until this amendment is activated, users cannot delegate detailed permissions for PaymentBurn.

Conditions for activation must also be met. Validator support must stay above 80 percent for 14 days, and if it falls below 80 percent during that period, the waiting period is recalculated from the start. Along with Ripple's monthly escrow unlock, network maintenance on the XRP Ledger is also emerging as a major variable for the ecosystem in early November.
