[DigitalToday reporter Hojeong Lee (이호정)] A sequel to Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA5), whose global cumulative supply has surpassed 230 million copies, returns in November after 13 years. Other highly anticipated titles, including The Legend of Zelda, Stellar Blade, ArcheAge Chronicle and Azur Promilia, will also be released in succession this month.
◆New GTA6 after 13 years; will it top its predecessor’s box-office record?
According to the game industry on the 1st, Rockstar Games will release GTA6 on Nov. 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is the first mainline entry in the series since GTA5, released in September 2013, 13 years ago.
Investor materials released by parent company Take-Two Interactive in August showed GTA5’s cumulative supply has surpassed 230 million copies. The previous title was released across three console generations. It retained users over a long period through a PC version and ongoing content updates for GTA Online.
Interest in the sequel is also high. Take-Two said the second GTA6 trailer, released in May 2025, surpassed 475 million views across platforms within 24 hours of its release.
GTA6 is set in the fictional region of Leonida, inspired by the U.S. state of Florida, and the city of Vice City. It follows a story that unfolds as protagonists Jason and Lucia get caught up in a criminal case.
The run-up to release has not been smooth. It initially targeted a 2025 release but was delayed to May this year, and the schedule was changed again to November. Rockstar Games explained it needed additional development time to raise completion quality.
New information has also been disclosed ahead of launch. Rockstar Games said on the 29th it would release a GTA6 original score album produced by French electronic music duo Justice on Dec. 11. The game applies a system in which the music changes depending on gameplay, and the album includes 30 tracks composed by Justice.
In South Korea, it received an adults-only rating from the Game Content Rating Board (GCRB) on the 16th. Based on the domestic PS Store, the Standard Edition costs 89,800 won and the Ultimate Edition costs 112,800 won. Physical packages will also provide a download code instead of a game disc, and it supports pre-download from Nov. 12. A PC release schedule has not yet been announced.
◆Metacritic 99-point Zelda returns; 3 million-copy Stellar Blade expands platforms
Nintendo will release Switch 2 exclusive The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in South Korea on Nov. 5. It is a remake that newly produces the original, released for Nintendo 64 in 1998. A remake for Nintendo 3DS was also released in 2011.
The Nintendo 64 original recorded 99 out of 100 on review-aggregation site Metacritic. As of March 2018, it was also listed in Guinness World Records as the best-selling action-adventure game on a Nintendo platform, with 7.6 million copies sold worldwide.
The remake overhauls graphics and the control system, and adds voice presentation and orchestral music. It also introduces a feature in which the Switch 2 microphone recognizes the sound if players perform an ocarina melody with a real instrument or hum a tune. New content will also be introduced, including Manmajeon, which lets players fight strong enemies again, and Fairy’s Memories hidden across regions.
Nintendo is also expanding related merchandise as the Legend of Zelda series marks its 40th anniversary this year. On the 29th it released a Switch 2 console with a special design for 788,000 won. The product does not include the Ocarina of Time game.
South Korean game company Shift Up will also release a Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade Complete Edition on Nov. 6. After first launching on PS5 in April 2024 and releasing a PC version in June 2025, it is expanding service to a third platform.
Stellar Blade is Shift Up’s flagship console intellectual property, surpassing 3 million in cumulative global sales as of June 2025. The PC version added momentum as 1 million copies were sold within three days of release.
The Complete Edition includes the main game and collaboration downloadable content (DLC) such as Nier: Automata and Goddess of Victory: Nikke. It will also provide four Bayonetta collaboration costumes for free across all platforms, including Switch 2, PS5 and PC. The Switch 2 physical package places all game data on the cartridge so it can be played without a separate download.
◆XL Games, Nexon target the market with new PC and mobile titles
New titles from South Korean game companies will also continue. XL Games will begin Steam Early Access for open-world action massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) ArcheAge Chronicle at 8 a.m. on Nov. 4 (Korea time).
ArcheAge Chronicle is a sequel to ArcheAge, released in 2013, and was initially expected to be published by Kakao Games. However, as the publishing contract between the two companies ended, developer XL Games is moving to direct service.
Early Access offers combat, exploration and cooperative content across three main regions: Shining Coast, Golden Ruins and Constellation Plains. At the previously held Steam Next Fest, the demo surpassed 20,000 peak concurrent users and ranked fifth in the most-played demo list.
ArcheAge Chronicle has adopted a package purchase model. The domestic price is 36,000 won, and it can be played without a separate monthly fee. XL Games also does not plan to run a paid shop in the early stages of Early Access.
Nexon will officially release fantasy world role-playing game (RPG) Azur Promilia in South Korea on Nov. 26. The game is developed by China’s Manjuu Games, the developer of global subculture game Azur Lane.
Azur Promilia is a game in which players explore a fantasy continent, bond with mysterious creatures called Kibo, and enjoy combat and building. Nexon will release the game for PC and mobile and support full Korean voice dubbing.
Before release, it is holding a secondary creation contest and user-participation events to secure users in South Korea. It also plans to participate in AGF 2026, to be held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi province, from Dec. 4 to 6, to expand user touchpoints.
In November, not only GTA6 and new titles from South Korean game companies but also remakes and new platform versions of existing popular titles will appear. With differing business strategies intersecting, including XL Games’ shift to direct service and Nexon’s publishing of a new title developed overseas, attention is also focused on results after release.
