Meta has launched Style Sketch, an AI fashion app that analyses users' wardrobes and recommends outfits, without a separate announcement. It creates a virtual closet using photos posted on Instagram and suggests clothing suited to the weather and schedule.

TechCrunch reported on Oct. 29 that Style Sketch is currently available for iOS and Android in three Southeast Asian countries: Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. The app links to a user's Instagram account and registers clothing from existing posts in a virtual closet. Users can also add clothing by photographing items with a smartphone, recording a short video, or uploading images saved in a photo album.

The AI analyses the wardrobe built in this way and recommends outfit combinations that match the user's preferences. It also supports a feature that proposes new looks centred on a specific item selected by the user.

It also offers a virtual fitting function. Users can try recommended outfits on a virtual model tailored to their body shape and skin tone, helping them preview how the clothes would look when worn.

Users can also plan outfits for travel. If they enter the destination, duration and planned activities, the app recommends day-by-day clothing based on local weather and schedules. It can be used to pack for a trip by combining clothes the user already owns.

The AI-based outfit recommendation market already includes startup Alta and Google Photos. Meta is expected to present integration with Instagram, where users' fashion preferences have accumulated, as a differentiating factor.

The launch also aligns with Meta's strategy to expand its AI apps. Meta has recently introduced the AI virtual pet app Waddle world, the game creation tool Pocket, and the AI video generation app Vibes.

Meta Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg (마크 저커버그) was reported to have told employees that the company plans to use AI to speed up app development and launch far more services than before.

There has been no disclosure yet on whether Style Sketch will expand its service.
