LG CNS said on Thursday it posted third-quarter consolidated sales of 1.66 trillion won and operating profit of 138.2 billion won. That was up 9.3 percent and 15.0 percent, respectively, from a year earlier.
Revenue from its core AI and cloud business rose 9.3 percent from a year earlier to 961.5 billion won. The results were supported by higher revenue from building and operating the Samsong AI data centre and from data centre colocation.
External AX business also expanded, including work such as establishing an airport AI transformation (AX) master plan, an AI drug development platform and building an AI agent for health checkups. Its enterprise client business using global generative AI, including ChatGPT Enterprise and Claude, also grew.
Revenue from digital business services rose 21.3 percent to 408.2 billion won. Revenue growth was driven as next-generation system projects for financial firms including NH NongHyup Bank, Mirae Asset Life Insurance and KB Kookmin Bank entered full-scale development stages.
In contrast, revenue from smart engineering edged down from a year earlier to 294.5 billion won due to a slowdown in manufacturing conditions.
LG CNS plans to expand its business around agentic AI and AI infrastructure. It recently acquired tangible assets worth about 380.0 billion won to secure graphics processing units, or GPUs, needed to build and operate an AI factory.
It also moved into full-scale joint investment with global investment firm General Atlantic in enterprise software and AI businesses. It plans to diversify its AI business portfolio through the effort.
It is also strengthening its robot transformation (RX) business. Based on its robot learning and operations platform PhysicalWorks, it is conducting proof-of-concept projects at logistics and manufacturing sites and is shifting them into main projects to expand orders. It is also in talks on commercialization with internal and external clients in service areas including patrol, customer service and safety.
It also plans to strengthen partnerships with global big tech companies including Nvidia, Microsoft and Amazon Web Services, as well as with physical AI companies and robot manufacturers.
