[Digital Today reporter Ji-young Lee (이지영)] Hana Bank has launched a savings product offering interest of up to 5.0 percent a year to mark the 50th anniversary of Robot Taekwon V. The six-month product will be sold in a limited run of 30,000 accounts. The bank is also holding an event for subscribers, giving away limited-edition Taekwon V figurines and other prizes.
Hana Bank said it will sell the 'Fly Taekwon V Savings', featuring the South Korean animation character Robot Taekwon V, from Oct. 30. The product will be offered for six months from the launch date, limited to a total of 30,000 accounts. The subscription term is six months.
The product offers a base rate of 2.0 percent a year plus up to 3.0 percentage points in preferential rates, for a maximum annual rate of 5.0 percent. Preferential interest of 2.0 percentage points a year applies to customers making their first time deposit or savings transaction with Hana Bank. A preferential rate of 1.0 percentage point a year applies to customers who make at least three automatic transfers from a Hana Bank demand deposit account. Monthly payments range from 10,000 won to 200,000 won.
The bank also set up a prize event to mark the launch. Through Dec. 31, it will draw lots among savings subscribers and give a limited-edition, 1-metre Taekwon V figure to 1 winner. It will also provide Taekwon V character card books to 150 people and Robot Taekwon V commemorative stamps to 200 people.
Hana Bank will also run a Taekwon V section in the 'Playground' area within its Hana OneQ app. In that space, it plans to exclusively release remake animation content of Robot Taekwon V each week.
A Hana Bank official said, "Through this 'Fly Taekwon V Savings', we expect to be able to offer a new financial experience that adds the value of small savings to childhood memories."
