XRP has reached a key testing point for a long-term cup-and-handle pattern spanning about 8 and a half years. Technical analysis has raised the possibility of gains to $8.47 to $27.31, but it must first break through resistance at $3.30 for those to be viewed as realistic targets. The uptrend is not yet confirmed, and the market is in a phase of watching whether the long-term pattern can be completed.
On Oct. 26 (local time), blockchain media outlet DeCrypt reported that XRP’s long-term price chart formed a cup shape as it plunged after the 2018 peak, built a base over several years and then recovered. The decline that followed the 2025 high is being interpreted as the handle portion of the cup-and-handle pattern.
A cup-and-handle is a technical chart pattern in which the price forms a rounded bottom, recovers toward the prior high, then goes through a brief pullback before breaking through resistance. It is generally used to assess potential for further gains if the price clears a key resistance after finishing the handle phase. The existence of the pattern alone does not guarantee future gains.
XRP is currently about $1.29. That is below about $1.47 at the time the chart was presented. The price level identified as most important in the analysis is the neckline at about $3.30. In a cup-and-handle pattern, the neckline is the key resistance used to judge whether an upside breakout occurs.
Based on the current price, XRP would need to rise about 156 percent to reach $3.30. Only a convincing move above this resistance would allow discussion of a bullish breakout that completes the long-term pattern. Until then, it is hard to say the cup-and-handle is complete, and forecasts of prices above $8 remain conditional scenarios rather than confirmed targets.
If the price falls further, key support zones would need to be checked. The first Fibonacci retracement level shown on the chart is about $0.894. That is about 31 percent below the current price. If a deeper correction occurs, about $0.642 is presented as the next major support zone, about 50 percent below the current price.
These levels are seen less as simple downside targets than as zones for gauging whether the long-term cup-and-handle structure can be maintained. Even if XRP corrects, there is room to view a rebound after securing support in that area as part of the process of completing the handle phase. If it clearly breaks below support at $0.64, confidence in the long-term pattern could weaken.
The long-term trend line is also a variable. The analysis chart shows a Gaussian trend curve and presents cases in which XRP approached this long-term support zone several times in the past and then rebounded. This time as well, a point where the trend line overlaps with Fibonacci support during the correction is cited as a key area to watch. Past rebounds from support do not guarantee the same move this time.
Upside targets shown on the long-term chart are $8.47, $13.70 and $27.31. These levels are not targets that can be reached immediately from the current level. For them to be considered technically meaningful upside targets, XRP would first need to hold the handle phase, recover the previous high zone and then break through the $3.30 neckline.
Ultimately, in XRP’s long-term bullish scenario, the key is not the high targets but the sequence of passing major price levels. Whether it breaks $3.30 is the key benchmark for confirming a bullish turn, while support around $0.89 and $0.64 is important if prices fall. Whether the cup-and-handle pattern is completed or weakens with further corrections will depend on future price action.
