[DigitalToday reporter Jinju Hong (홍진주)] The share of XRP’s active supply over the past year fell below 50 percent in October, hitting its lowest level this year.

According to blockchain outlet Decrypt on Oct. 26, the portion of XRP supply that moved over the past 12 months fell to 49.723 percent recently from 50.353 percent in the first week of this month.

The metric refers to the share of total XRP that has actually moved within the past year. A lower share means more XRP has not moved for at least 12 months. Markets typically view this as a sign of a reduced amount available for short-term circulation, easing immediate selling pressure.

XRP’s price has in fact remained weak this month. After showing strong momentum in September, XRP turned lower in October and selling pressure continued into the fourth week. On a weekly basis, it has fallen for three straight weeks and is down 0.37 percent this week. For October as a whole, it has fallen 13.3 percent, and it was about $1.28 at the time of writing.

Prices were weak, but on-chain indicators are sending a different signal. The latest reading is the lowest weekly level in 2026. The decline itself is not larger than in previous periods, but there is a view that if the trend continues it could support XRP’s price, because more coins locked up for long periods reduces the amount that can come to market immediately.

There have been similar cases in the past. The share fell from 53.366 percent in late November 2025 to 50.899 percent in late December. Over the same period, XRP rebounded from around a late-2025 low of $1.8106 to $2.4159 on Jan. 5, 2026. A sharp correction followed, but it confirms a precedent of price recovery during a period of falling active-supply share.

A similar pattern appeared in the middle of this year. The metric fell to 51.653 percent by mid-August from 56.057 percent in early July, and XRP then surged 53 percent in a week to above $1.50 at one point. Despite the recent correction, it is still holding on to part of those gains.

Still, the indicator cannot be viewed as unconditionally positive. A drop in the one-year active-supply share may signal long-term holders’ confidence, but it may also reflect a slowdown in movement and participation across the broader XRP ecosystem. The fact that coins are not moving does not mean holders will continue not to sell in the future.

Despite that interpretation, recent XRPL activity appears to have increased. Daily transactions on XRPL reached 3.7 million on the 25th, up 52.5 percent from the previous day. That was the highest in six months. Successfully processed transactions rose 83 percent from a day earlier to 3,238,000, also the highest level in six months.

Other indicators also rose, including transactions per ledger, the number of ledgers closed and ledger interval. Payment transactions were the exception. Payment transactions fell 52.6 percent to 567,438.

As a result, the XRP market is showing price weakness and improving on-chain signals at the same time. An increase in long-term unmoved supply could lead to a reduced circulating supply, and a rise in XRPL transactions could be read as a sign of broader network participation. On the other hand, a price rebound would also require a recovery in buying, and markets are likely to watch whether the active-supply share continues to fall and whether the increase in XRPL transactions is more than a short-term phenomenon.
