KakaoPay will roll out a service that uses payment records linked to mydata to let users credit membership points they missed at the time of payment at a later date. Points can be credited if the payment record is confirmed even when users paid with other methods such as credit or debit cards, not only KakaoPay Money.

KakaoPay said on Tuesday it will launch its "membership post-crediting" service. The first partner is CU membership.

KakaoPay mydata users will be able to receive points later if their payment record is confirmed even when they did not credit membership points at the time of payment at CU. It applies regardless of which payment method was used.

To use the service, users must sign up for KakaoPay mydata and then link CU membership under the "Membership" tab on KakaoPay Home in the KakaoPay app or in KakaoTalk.

If an eligible payment record is confirmed, KakaoPay will notify users via a KakaoTalk message. This is designed to let users check points available for post-crediting without having to review payment records one by one.

KakaoPay plans to expand how mydata is used, which has focused on viewing financial information, to payment and membership benefits. It also plans to add partners among membership brands in various industries.

KakaoPay already runs a "Membership" service that automatically credits partner points for offline payments. It has more than 12,000,000 subscribers.

A KakaoPay official said, "We will expand the payment experience that helps users find benefits they are likely to miss by using mydata and KakaoTalk."
