[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Enterprise software company TmaxSoft said on Oct. 13 its Japan unit completed a mainframe rehosting project for Sompo Japan, a leading Japanese non-life insurer, using its OpenFrame mainframe modernisation solution.

TmaxSoft carried out the project using OpenFrame7. It rehosted Sompo Japan systems that had been running on an existing mainframe and migrated them to a Microsoft Azure cloud environment.

The company said the outcome reflects how it has strengthened its position in Japan’s DX (digital transformation) market, led by OpenFrame, since it established Japan TmaxSoft as a local unit in 2000.

TmaxSoft CEO Hyung-yong Lee (이형용) said it will position its Japan unit as a key base for expanding into Asian markets and continue strengthening global technological competitiveness. He said it will further solidify a close cooperation system between headquarters and its Japan unit and expand its push into the global IT infrastructure market.
