KakaoGames' new title "Dokkaebi's World" has topped Google Play's sales ranking five days after its release.

KakaoGames said on Monday that "Dokkaebi's World", a 2.5D massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Supercat and published by the company, ranked No. 1 on Google Play's sales chart.

"Dokkaebi's World" was formally released on Oct. 8. It ranked No. 1 on Apple App Store popularity charts on Oct. 7, when pre-downloads began. On launch day, it topped Google Play's popularity ranking. It then rose to No. 2 in sales rankings on both major app markets during the holiday period, before climbing to No. 1 on Google Play's sales ranking on Monday.

KakaoGames will provide a special coupon at 10 a.m. on Monday to mark the No. 1 ranking on Google Play by sales.

The company plans to focus first on stabilising its domestic service and operating content. It aims to improve service completeness through seasonal updates and a user communication programme called "Dokkaebi General Assembly".

It will also pursue preparations for global service. KakaoGames plans to prepare for overseas releases in stages based on its experience operating the domestic service.

"Dokkaebi's World" is an MMORPG developed based on the intellectual property (IP) of Naver web novel and webtoon "Myeolgwi Sudojeon". It highlights features such as visuals that combine 2D dot characters with 3D backgrounds and combinations of magical techniques.
