[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] World, an ID project co-founded by Sam Altman, introduced on Wednesday a way to use Proof of Human to verify whether an AI agent is acting in place of a real person.
According to the company, if users delegate their World ID proof to an agent, a website or service can verify that an agent’s actions are requests made on behalf of the actual user without receiving personal data. Even if one person uses multiple agents, limits such as the number of requests and purchase quantities can be set based on the actual user.
As agents are used more widely, websites and services increasingly need to identify the source of requests and, if possible, verify who developed the agent.
They also need to confirm whether an agent is acting on behalf of a real person. World stressed that World ID Proof of Human can be used to prove this without disclosing user personal data.
World expects that as AI agents increase and superintelligence technology advances, more websites and services will check whether agent requests originate from real people. If this cannot be proven, agent access may be blocked, and users who assign tasks to agents may also face inconvenience, World said.
