OpenAI said on Oct. 8 it will expand its latest AI model, GPT-6, across ChatGPT, including free users, and introduce an "Intelligent UI" that composes response screens in real time depending on the question.

With the update, GPT-6 Sol will apply to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise, while GPT-6 Luna will apply to Free and Go. OpenAI will provide GPT-6 to more than 1.2 billion weekly active users through this.

The key is the Intelligent UI, where AI decides the screen layout as well as the content of the answer. Moving beyond a text-centered chat format, it provides responses by combining images, maps, charts and buttons depending on the nature of the question.

For example, if a user requests travel planning, it displays destinations and routes on a map. In financial calculations or learning processes, users can change input values themselves and check the results. When information comparison is needed, it places related content side by side.

Response speed has also improved. For complex research or multi-step tasks, GPT-6 provides confirmed content first before the full result is complete, then shows additional results.

According to OpenAI's internal evaluation, for questions requiring web searches, GPT-6 Instant began answering an average of 44 percent faster than GPT-5.6 Instant. It also said its ability to determine whether a web search is needed and identify core requirements in a question has improved.

On safety, it strengthened safeguards to prevent misuse in high-risk areas such as cyberattacks and biology. It also improved its ability to respond to attempts to bypass safety measures through multiple rounds of conversation.

GPT-6 and the Intelligent UI will be rolled out sequentially to paid users from Oct. 8 in Korea time, and will be expanded to Free and Go users after Oct. 9.

This update applies to ChatGPT's chat function, and the operating models for Work and Codex will not change.
