Kakao Entertainment will jointly design global growth strategies for K-pop artists with U.S.-based Atlantic Music Group and broaden cooperation from music production to distribution and marketing.
Kakao Entertainment said on Tuesday it signed a strategic partnership with Atlantic Music Group, a unit of Warner Music Group.
The companies plan to jointly set market strategies from the early stages of K-pop artists' global activities and cooperate across the entire process, including music production, distribution, marketing, promotion and fandom communication.
At the production stage, they will pursue song camps and featuring. They will later expand collaboration through music distribution and digital marketing using global streaming platforms and social media, as well as local TV and radio appearances.
Kakao Entertainment will take charge of capabilities across the K-pop business, including planning and producing music intellectual property, distribution, management and marketing. Atlantic Music Group will provide its artist and repertoire, marketing and promotion experience, and networks accumulated in global markets.
Atlantic Music Group has Atlantic Records, 10K Projects and 300 Entertainment under its umbrella. Atlantic Records includes Bruno Mars, Charli XCX, Coldplay, Charlie Puth, Cardi B and Miley Cyrus.
Kakao Entertainment said it will operate the cooperation by jointly designing global strategies that consider each artist's musical identity, stage of activity and market competitiveness, rather than simply supporting overseas expansion.
The companies plan to use the partnership to broaden the foundation for K-pop artists' activities in global markets, including North America, and to push for fandom growth.
Atlantic Music Group said it will combine Kakao Entertainment's K-pop business expertise with Atlantic Music Group's global network and artist development capabilities to drive artists' growth together.
Kakao Entertainment said it will expand global fan touchpoints for K-pop artists and IP based on the two companies' expertise and networks.
