Ripple has expanded cooperation with global alternative investment manager Brevan Howard and widened the scope of its services for institutional investors, blockchain media outlet U.Today reported on Oct. 6 local time.
Ripple Prime provides multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing and financial services to funds managed by Brevan Howard.
Brevan Howard manages money for institutional investors and has about $35 billion in assets under management. Under the cooperation, Brevan Howard’s investment teams will be able to process trades across multiple markets and asset classes within the same prime brokerage infrastructure. Ripple said the structure focuses on improving collateral management and capital allocation efficiency.
Prime brokers provide the backbone large investment firms need to execute trades, raise funding, manage collateral and clear transactions. Brevan Howard can now use Ripple Prime’s infrastructure to access multiple asset classes and products, instead of using separate channels for each market and managing collateral separately.
Ripple Prime supports both traditional financial markets and crypto markets. It includes digital assets, foreign exchange, derivatives, swaps and fixed income products. Ripple said it clears more than $3 trillion a year through its platform and has more than 300 institutional clients.
Alan McGonigle (앨런 맥그로티), chief operating officer at Brevan Howard Group, said institutional investors increasingly need digital asset infrastructure that integrates easily with existing operating systems. The partnership is seen as an example showing rising demand to connect traditional financial markets and digital asset markets.
The announcement did not include Brevan Howard buying XRP or using Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin. The focus at this stage is on adopting Ripple’s institutional brokerage infrastructure.
The relationship between the two sides predates this agreement. A Brevan Howard affiliate fund was among investors that took part in Ripple’s $500 million strategic equity investment round in November 2025. The expanded cooperation is meaningful in that Ripple is extending existing links in its institutional financial infrastructure business into actual service contracts, beyond a simple investment relationship.
Attention will now focus on which assets and trades Brevan Howard will apply Ripple Prime to, and how far Ripple will expand its infrastructure business spanning both traditional finance and digital assets based on its institutional client base.
