Tesla's core slogan in its long-term blueprint 'Master Plan 4' unveiled last year, 'Amazing Abundance', has yet to lead to a concrete execution plan a year after its announcement. Elon Musk (일론 머스크), Tesla's chief executive, presented a future in which anyone can have what they want through artificial intelligence and robots, but detailed strategies to make that a reality still have not clearly emerged.
On Oct. 1 (local time), IT media outlet TechCrunch reported that Musk said he would supplement details in the future when he unveiled Tesla's fourth master plan on Sept. 1, 2025. Since then, specific explanations of 'Amazing Abundance' have been limited.
Master Plan 4 is characterised by changing Tesla's previous phrasing of 'sustainable abundance' to 'Amazing Abundance'. Musk explained he chose the new wording simply because "it is more fun."
Musk has since expanded the vision around AI and robots. He has laid out ideas such as robots and AI performing surgery to improve access to healthcare, and the spread of AI and robots enabling anyone to have a penthouse.
In July, he also explained the meaning of 'Amazing Abundance' as "anyone being able to have whatever they can think of." In November last year, he also made remarks to the effect that Tesla robots could build a house for anyone, and even build a castle. He added the condition at the time that it would not insist on a specific location.
The problem is that these ideas have not been sufficiently connected to a concrete business plan or technology roadmap. Tesla and Musk did not respond to related inquiries, and explanations of real-world constraints such as limits on resources and space have also been limited.
In particular, the vision that "anyone can have what they want" leaves practical questions over housing and resources. Land in highly preferred areas is limited, and as climate change increases areas that are difficult for people to live in, critics say there is not enough explanation of how AI and robot productivity alone can resolve physical resource constraints.
'Amazing Abundance' has not remained merely a promotional slogan. Tesla also tied the vision to the company's governance and executive compensation system.
Tesla granted Musk a compensation package worth about 1 trillion dollars in 2025 and cited the goals of Master Plan 4 as a key basis. Documents Tesla submitted to regulators said goals including delivering 20 million vehicles, securing 10 million full self-driving subscriptions, and deploying 1 million robotaxis and 1 million robots were described as key elements underpinning Musk's vision of 'abundance.'
Tesla's board also stressed the vision. Robyn Denholm (로빈 덴홈), chair of Tesla's board, said in a letter sent after shareholder approval in November last year that shareholders supported the vision of Master Plan 4 and wanted Tesla to move toward an extraordinary future. She also stressed that it could help accelerate prosperity for everyone by creating a world that is not zero-sum and by delivering a safer, cleaner and more enjoyable world.
Tesla is also moving to expand 'Amazing Abundance' as a business brand. In August, it filed a trademark application for the phrase so it could be used not only for cars and robots but also for various products such as stickers, bags, cups and bottle openers. It is widening the scope of its use as a long-term corporate vision and as a brand phrase to imprint on consumers.
Even so, assessments say there remains a gap between the massive vision presented by Master Plan 4 and Tesla's current stage of execution. Whether robotaxis, humanoid robots and AI can actually lead to large-scale production and service expansion and create so-called 'abundance' will depend on future technology development and business performance.
In the end, Tesla's 'Amazing Abundance' presented in Master Plan 4 has expanded to a much broader meaning than last year, but even now, one year after its announcement, it looks closer to a declaration about the future than a concrete execution blueprint. How far Tesla's concept of realising abundance through AI and robots will be specified into actual products, services and production targets remains a key task.
