SK Shieldus said on Thursday it has obtained Amazon Web Services' (AWS) security competency for Threat Detection and Response (TDR).

SK Shieldus plans to use the credential to expand its AWS cloud security business across a range of industries.

The company said the TDR competency covers threat detection and response areas including security operations center (SOC) operations, security information and event management (SIEM), security orchestration, automation and response (SOAR), extended detection and response (XDR), endpoint detection and response (EDR) and network detection and response (NDR).

SK Shieldus submitted a case in the SOAR evaluation process in which it used AWS security services to build a threat detection and response system for a customer environment. It also provides a service that analyzes security events collected in AWS environments and runs response procedures through its own threat intelligence and security operations framework.

It is also operating a security monitoring service tailored to cloud environments by linking AWS native security services with its AI-based cybersecurity monitoring platform Secudium.

Choi Jae-ho (최재호), head of the Cyber Technology Center at SK Shieldus, said the competency validated the company's expertise in AWS cloud environments across security monitoring as well as threat detection and response. He said SK Shieldus will expand cybersecurity services based on cooperation with AWS to support customers' digital transformation and proactively respond to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
