Bithumb said on Thursday it delivered 300 blood donation certificates to the Korea Hematopoietic Stem Cell Bank Association. Including the latest donation, Bithumb has donated a total of 700 certificates so far.
Bithumb has continued quarterly blood drives and certificate donation activities since 2022. It held blood drives in January, May and September this year, with about 170 employees taking part. It also donated certificates that employees had kept separately.
The certificates delivered this time are set to be used for patients who need hematopoietic stem cell transplants due to leukemia, cancer and other illnesses.
The Korean Red Cross said the number of blood donations in South Korea last year was about 2.63 million, falling short of the annual 3 million needed for a stable blood supply.
“Thanks to employees who actively participate in blood donation, blood drives have been able to take root as part of our company culture,” Kim Jin-pyeong (김진평), head of Bithumb’s HR Support Office, said. “We will continue to work to become a company that keeps building social value and sharing,” he said.
