JoyCity has secured Chinese game approval for its sports title '3on3 Freestyle' and will begin preparing for local service.
JoyCity said on Wednesday that '3on3 Freestyle', which it developed, obtained the approval through Chinese publisher Hooga. The local service name in China will be '3v3 Ga Nong'.
'3on3 Freestyle' is a three-on-three street basketball game developed based on JoyCity's 'Freestyle' intellectual property. It features cartoon-rendered graphics, character-specific traits and real-time team matches.
The game was first released on the PlayStation 4 in 2016 and later expanded to platforms including Xbox and PC, continuing its global service.
JoyCity plans to accelerate preparations for service in China on the back of the approval. As the existing 'Freestyle' series has been serviced in China for a long period and built a user base, it plans to use local IP awareness and service experience for '3on3 Freestyle' as well.
Jeon Hyun-kyu (전현규), head of JoyCity's Freestyle Business Division, said, "With this approval, we have laid the groundwork to introduce '3on3 Freestyle' to users in China," adding, "We will work with our local partner to prepare for stable service."
