Woowa Brothers is joining hands with Andong city to revitalise the old downtown commercial district. Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, said on Sept. 28 it will run a promotion linking its pickup service to the 'Andong Original Downtown Mask Day Festival' being held in Andong through Oct. 4. The company said the aim is to encourage festival visitors to visit alley shopping areas through pickup orders and support the sales of local small merchants.

A pop-up event venue promoting Andong's local specialties is also included. Woowa Brothers will give customers who visit the venue company-made branded goods such as a mint bar soap, pens and memo pads. It plans to create a route that moves visitors from the festival site to the shopping district.

For the event, the promotion page on the Baemin app will provide all customers with discount coupons of up to 10,000 won. The coupons apply only to pickup orders. They can be used at 53 Baemin partner stores in major Andong commercial areas, including Jungang New Market, Old Market, Namsuhwest Shopping District, Munhwa Street and Food Street.

Local Andong foods such as jjimdak, boiled octopus slices, salted mackerel and mungtigi are available at these stores. The company said visitors can enjoy both the festival and a meal, while alley shops can boost offline sales. It said it expects the collaboration to provide tangible help to the sales of local small merchants.

Kim Joong-hyun (김중현), head of Woowa Brothers' sustainability management office, said, "We prepared this promotion in the hope that people who visit Andong will experience not only the festival but also shops throughout the alleys and local food." He said, "We will continue to push various win-win activities that bring vitality to local economies."
