Creinity, a SaaS email security and email collaboration company, said on Sept. 18 it signed a memorandum of understanding with personal data protection solutions company L7Security for a joint response to prevent personal data leaks and strengthen email security for public institutions and companies.

The agreement focuses on expanding the scope of personal data protection in email environments by linking Creinity’s mail DLP (Data Loss Prevention) solution, MailBreaker, with L7Security’s OCR-based personal data detection technology.

The key is to expand personal data detection to images and scanned documents delivered by email. The two companies plan to cooperate on technical collaboration for product integration, expanding solution supply and pursuing joint business initiatives.

L7Security’s personal data detection solution identifies personal data in documents. It also uses OCR (optical character recognition) to analyse text information contained in images and scanned documents. Creinity will pursue technical cooperation to link it with MailBreaker so that documents attached to emails in image form are included in the scope of personal data leak prevention.

Yu Byeong-seon (유병선), CEO of Creinity, said email is a core work tool for companies and institutions, making it important to accurately detect and control personal data before it is leaked externally. He said the cooperation with L7Security will expand personal data protection to images and scanned documents and further develop MailBreaker to respond more precisely to the risk of personal data leaks that can occur during email sending. Yu added the company will continue to proactively respond to personal data leak risks based on the technology it has built up in the email security field and provide a more sophisticated email security system tailored to customers’ work environments.
