[Digital Today reporter Chi-gyu Hwang (황치규)] Home services platform Soumgo said on Sept. 17 it carried out a housing environment improvement project with Koyote member Ppaekka’s YouTube channel “Ppaekka Unni” for descendants of an independence activist.

The descendants supported by Soumgo and Ppaekka were a married couple who are maternal grandchildren of Jo Wan-gu, who took part in founding the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea and served as interior minister.

The elderly couple’s home, where they have lived for about 30 years, had severe condensation and mould and ageing facilities, requiring overall improvement of the living environment. Soumgo’s service providers and Ppaekka began repairs with safety and daily convenience as the top priorities.

The providers offered their professional skills, including removing mould and replacing wallpaper and flooring, removing door thresholds to prevent falls, replacing lighting with LED fixtures to improve visibility, and customised organising and tidying tailored to the seniors’ movement paths. Ppaekka also took part directly in demolition work and cleaning.

A Soumgo official said it was meaningful to remember the intentions of independence activists who devoted themselves to the country and to contribute the platform’s capabilities to the daily lives of their descendants. The official said Soumgo and its providers would continue to look for activities that can contribute to society and keep supporting them.
