Canon Korea will launch its new full-frame mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera, the EOS R8 Mark II, in October. Canon Korea, which ranks No. 1 in the interchangeable-lens camera market for 23 consecutive years, is releasing a follow-up model that combines full-frame image quality and high-speed shooting performance in a compact, lightweight body.

It is the first in the EOS R8 series to undergo a full design overhaul, adopting a form that balances straight lines and curves. It weighs about 546 grams including the battery and memory card. The camera pairs an about 24.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor with a DIGIC X engine, and its standard sensitivity range is ISO 100 to 102,400.

Using the electronic shutter, it supports continuous shooting of up to about 40 frames per second. Dual Pixel CMOS AF II automatically recognises people, animals and vehicles and focuses in low light down to EV -7.5. For the first time in the EOS R8 series, it also includes in-body image stabilisation, correcting up to 7.5 stops at the centre for still shooting.

For video, it supports 6K oversampled 4K 60P and uncropped Full HD 180P, and includes Canon Log 3 and Custom Picture. It also adds new creative functions such as film-style colour filters and an Advanced A+ mode. It newly supports a "Dual Pixel 3D" function that turns a single photo into a 3D model, and will also introduce the dedicated extension grip EG-E2.

Canon Korea CEO Jungwoo Park (박정우) said, "We packed full-frame expressiveness, high-speed shooting and AF performance, powerful image stabilisation, and creative functions that bring out the shooter’s individuality into a single body." He added, "We hope users experience the joy of completing new moments from everyday life as their own works."

The EOS R8 Mark II will go on sale in October and will be priced at 2,319,000 won, while the RF24-50mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM lens kit will cost 2,584,000 won. The EG-E2 extension grip will be priced at 129,000 won, and the Dual Pixel 3D converter and SDK will be released on Oct. 8.
