KT unveiled AI transformation (AX) services tailored to local government work and public services. A Gyeonggi-do 5G work network built by KT was selected as an ICT best practice and received a prime minister award.

KT said on Tuesday it displayed 10 public-sector AX services after taking part in the 31st local government ICT best-practices presentation conference held at the Swiss Grand Hotel Seoul in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, from Sept. 10 to 11.

KT introduced the services in three areas, focusing on citizen safety, administrative efficiency and improved public convenience: work and security, communication and administration, and safety and AX.

In particular, the Gyeonggi-do 5G work network built by KT was selected as an outstanding case at the event and won a prime minister award. The 5G work network is a dedicated communications solution for the public sector and companies that shifts legacy work networks centred on wired connections to a 5G wireless network with stronger security. KT applied a hub-type 5G work network to Gyeonggi-do in June, the first in the public sector, linking seven local governments under the province including Suwon, Paju and Uijeongbu.

In the work and security area, KT showcased the Gyeonggi-do 5G work network, the zero-trust-based security solution ZTNA and an AI email security service that detects and blocks cyber threats in email. In the communication and administration area, it introduced Call Manager, which records and manages civil complaint calls, Caller Information Notifier, which displays the local government name on the receiving screen, electronic notices that deliver administrative information via mobile, and the next-generation messaging service RCS.

In the safety and AX area, it displayed CCTV AI video analysis, which uses AI to analyse CCTV footage to support smart monitoring and searches for missing people, SafeMate crime-prevention, an Internet of Things-based emergency bell service, and Air Map, which provides daily safety information such as heatwaves, ozone and fine dust.

KT introduced actual deployment cases and ways to use the services to local government ICT officials at the event. It also provided expert consulting for AX adoption.

Gil-sung Jeong (정길성), an executive director and head of KT's Enterprise Strategy Division, said, "Based on our public-sector AX capabilities that combine AI technology and communications infrastructure, we will support local government work innovation and the advancement of services for the public."
