Cowin Robotics said on Monday it has completed development of AI-based robot simulation technology and will apply it to global robot automation projects.
The company said the AI-based robot simulation technology can verify layouts, movement paths, work sequences and takt time in a virtual environment before actual robot installation. It synchronises data from real production and logistics sites with the virtual environment and implements the positions of objects and their movement routes. It is designed to allow advance analysis and verification of operating flows for robots and automation equipment, it said.
Process bottlenecks and interference between robots are also included in the AI analysis. It analyses such variables that may occur in various field environments and derives optimal operating methods, cutting commissioning losses after site setup. It can link not only its own robots but also other companies' robots and equipment, making it applicable to large global projects involving hundreds of robots.
The technology is expected to be applied to a U.S.-bound ESS robot automation project. It verified in advance in a virtual environment the operating flow of robots and automation systems to be deployed in the ESS assembly process, and it was implemented so that the overall operating status across the process can be monitored in real time after on-site construction.
Overseas projects can face higher costs if design changes or commissioning delays occur, as they can require sending personnel and extending construction periods. Cowin Robotics stressed that AI-based advance simulation can verify production and logistics flows in advance and shorten the ramp-up period from factory setup to stabilising mass production, thereby reducing the time and cost of overseas site construction.
A Cowin Robotics official said, "This AI-based robot simulation technology development is meaningful in that it goes beyond simply implementing a site virtually and secures the physical AI foundation of connecting data accumulated in real sites to AI and intelligent robots." The official added, "We will actively use it at overseas project sites to enhance our in-house full-stack competitiveness and expand our presence in the global robot automation market."
