CJ Olive Young said on Tuesday it will launch a mobile skin diagnosis service that measures skin condition by smartphone and recommends tailored care.

The service brings its in-store experiential beauty service, Skin Scan, to the app. Skin Scan is a service that photographs and analyses skin with in-store devices to suggest tailored products and care routines. Users can now check their skin condition and get a skincare routine recommendation using only a smartphone, without visiting a store.

Olive Young has introduced Skin Scan at stores since April 2024, starting with Starfield Goyang Town. At the end of last year, it shifted to an omni service linked to the app, allowing users to view diagnosis results and routines in the app. It has now added a mobile photo-based measurement function.

To use the service, users complete a short electronic questionnaire and then photograph their face or select an existing photo. AI analyses the results and provides them. Users can check results by category for items such as pores, pigmentation, moisture, oiliness and wrinkles, along with skin type. It presents causes and care information in a question-and-answer format for each category, recommends products by category based on concerns, and suggests a care routine that runs from cleansing to skincare and sun care. Users can access it from the Olive Young app main screen or through the Skin Scan icon in the "Ollyoung Store" tab.

Olive Young plans to add features later this year in stages, including a "skin change report" that shows trends in skin changes, product recommendations that reflect users' usual routines, and personal color diagnosis. It recently completed registration of the Skin Scan trademark to systematise the diagnosis service. It plans to subdivide its self-diagnosis lineup into three types: "Face" for facial skin, "Scalp" for the scalp, and "Color Fit" for personal color, and to expand online-to-offline tailored beauty consulting.

An Olive Young official said, "Customers can now continuously check changes in their skin using mobile in daily life, and visit stores when they need a detailed diagnosis, allowing them to experience a beauty service that moves between online and offline depending on the situation and needs." The official added, "We will continue to organically connect the strengths of Olive Young's online and offline channels to provide customers with a differentiated omnichannel shopping experience."
