[DigitalToday reporter Hyunwoo Choo] Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi (크레이그 페더리기) said the new iPhone Duo and the iPad could overlap in some areas of use, but their practical uses will naturally split. On Sept. 13 local time, IT outlet 9to5Mac reported that Federighi described the relationship between the iPhone Duo and the iPad in an MKBHD interview this week.
He cited the relationship between the iPad and the Mac, saying users ultimately developed a very natural pattern for when to use an iPad and when to use a Mac. He said he expects a similar flow to emerge between the iPad and the iPhone Duo.
He added that the iPad mini is a product whose area of use could overlap with the iPhone Duo. He directly mentioned that overlap could be possible in some models, not across the entire lineup.
Federighi also stressed that Apple redesigned the iOS experience for the iPhone Duo from the ground up. He said that while other devices have extended an existing experience to a new form factor or forced it into place, Apple designed the entire experience from scratch to fit the new shape.
